Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa said Tuesday during his visit to Poitiers, France, that the dispute settled in The Hague between Quito and Chevron has no sense, stating that the lawsuit started by Chevron is based on unsustainable declarations. Aguarico 4 was operated by US oil company Texaco between 1962 and 1990. Correa called past September for a global boycott of Chevron, as part of a campaign to highlight Amazon environmental damage Ecuador attributed to the US oil giant.
