This drone photograph shows timber from the Landes, the Jura and the Alps unloaded from a train onto a lorry for transport to Belgium and Luxembourg at the Energiserv multimodal in Illange, north-east France, on June 11, 2026. The rail link has been reopened between the south of France and the Moselle region to address the timber shortage following the bark beetle crisis in the Grand Est region. The 17-wagon convoy, 300 metres long and carrying around 810 cubic metres of timber, is more environmentally friendly and avoids the need to use around twenty lorries over long distances.
