Timber from the Landes, the Jura and the Alps is unloaded from a train at the Energiserv multimodal hub before being loaded onto lorries for transport to Belgium and Luxembourg, in Illange, north-east France, on 11 June 2026. The rail link has been reopened between the south of France and the Moselle region to address the timber shortage following the bark beetle crisis in the Grand Est region. The 17-wagon convoy, 300 metres long and carrying around 810 cubic metres of timber, is more environmentally friendly and avoids the need to use around twenty lorries over long distances.
