The large fish will not go down, CHANDIGARH, INDIA, HILARIOUS IMAGES show a cormorant struggling to swallow its ENORMOUS fish dinner.
Images show a cormorant attempting to hold onto and swallow an extremely large and lively fish at Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh, India, on 12th February 2025, almost seeming to unhook its jaw to consume the beast.
These birds are well-known for their diving technique, using their sharp beaks to catch fish underwater. However, as demonstrated in these images, they can sometimes catch prey too large to handle.
These images were captured by Jain (45) from Chandigarh, India, with a Nikon Z8 and 180-600mm lens.
“Just as I was about to leave, the cormorant succeeded in catching a sizable fish,” he said.
"I felt lucky that I was able to capture the action from a close range."
"My favourite shot is the one where both the bird and the fish are eye to eye.
“While the eyes of the fish show that it has surrendered, the eyes of the bird show struggle.
“Despite its efforts, the bird struggled to swallow the prey, eventually deciding to let it go.
“I had seen earlier also that when the cormorant catches a fish that is too big for it to swallow, it lets it go.”
