Luis and his girlfriend who he was protecting from robbers RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL A SHOCKING EVENT took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil when a 27 year old man was killed while trying to protect his girlfriend from criminals.
Personal trainer Luis Felipe Alves do Nascimento(27) was shot while defending his girlfriend during an attempted robbery in Praia do Flamengo, in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro.
Luis was rushed to hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries on Sunday night (May 5th 2024)
Family members said that Luis Felipe and his girlfriend participated in a luau and were returning home on Sunday morning, when the criminals on a motorcycle approached them.
One of the bandits approached the young woman demanding her cell phone, but she said she didn't have one. The criminal got angry and attacked her, when the personal trainer reacted the robbers shot and fled without taking anything.
The victim was rescued and taken to Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital, in Leblon, with a bullet lodged in his intestine. Luis received care until Sunday night, when his death was confirmed.
The case was initially registered at the 9th Police Station of Catete, but, after the death of Luis Felipe, the investigation went to the Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC).
The police say that efforts are being made to identify the criminals. As of Monday afternoon no one had been arrested.
Known as “China”, Luis Felipe had a degree in Physical Education and worked at a gym in Laranjeiras, close to the house where he lived with his mother. He also worked as a personal trainer in other locations.
In an interview with the newspaper O Globo, Caio Oliveira, who was a childhood friend of the victim, said that he was passionate about football and always dreamed of being a physical trainer.
“One of his life dreams was to be a Physical Education teacher. He was always involved with sport, he always played football. He was actually my partner. He taught football at Aterro do Flamengo,” said Oliveira.
The friend highlighted that Luis Felipe had already been the victim of a robbery before.
“He was afraid of violence in the city, he was robbed once there in Pinheiro Machado, he lost his phone. This time, we don’t know why he reacted, perhaps because they pointed a gun at Victoria [his girlfriend],” he reported.
