The impala mid fall with the cheetah in hot pursuit KENYA, AFRICA, THE DRAMATIC moment a hapless impala was catapulted to the ground by a cheetah mom to feed her cute cubs has been captured. Images captured the epic struggle over 30-minutes show the mother cheetah Namunyak chasing the impala who flips over itself while trying to flee her then her two five-month old cubs join in and take down the impala as a family, who together had not eaten for six days before this crucial kill. These images were captured by photographer Marc Mol (65) from Queensland Australia who tracked the family for three days before taking these shots in the Naboisho Conservancy, Kenya. “Cheetah mum Namunyak successfully brings down a big impala ram, but not before it spectacularly catapults into the air in a battle that took over thirty minutes to subdue her prey, whilst her two five month old cubs dramatically lend a hand in this epic battle,” said Marc. “At one stage her cubs desperately cling to the ram's big horns as they are flung in the air. “My guide and I knew she was getting very hungry having not eaten for six-days now, and well worth the three whole days it took to capture this event. “This was an enthralling and spectacular hunt sequence with the male catapulting in the air and then reviving multiple times with her two brave female cubs joining in. “It's not common for female cheetah's to take on a large male Impala due to their impressive long horns which could easily cause mortal wounds in the takedown, especially when her small cubs join in the battle. “I was enthralled and impressed by such a spectacular hunt sequence with the Impala catapulting in the air and then reviving multiple times with her two brave female cubs joining in battle to secure food. “The impala hitting a small tree stump and flying through the air is very dramatic, and a tough one to beat as one just has to admire a cheetah's skill in tripping the trailing leg of her prey at such speed. “It was totally justifying to finally see this skilled huntress get her well deserved and hard fought meal and why it pays to have a lot of patience when capturing these dramatic wildlife moments and why I keep coming back.” ENDS
