Gabriella Lendvai, managing director of Diafilmgyarto gives an interview in Budapest on February 18, 2024, as the Hungarian 'Diafilmgyarto' celebrates its 70th anniversary with various events including monthly screenings of slide films at a Budapest cinema attracting dozens of children and nostalgic adults. A century-old storytelling medium, its Hungarian producer has seen a resurgence in demand for filmstrips since the 2000s as enthusiasts appreciate the chance for slower, more intimate storytelling in the age of increasingly fast-paced entertainment. Filmstrips -- sometimes called slide films -- are printed on rolls of film, but unlike traditional movies, images can be shown for any amount of time, and are not meant to create the illusion of motion.
