Walking in carmine territory
SOUTH AFRICA A LONE Baboon was captured walking along the sandy banks of the Luangwa River and surrounded by hundreds of beautiful carmine bee-eaters.
This odd composition makes for a beautiful contrast between the hundreds of birds and one primate.
The baboon did not disturb or attack them. He peacefully walked past the sea of carmine birds and went away.
Nathalie Mountain, a British wildlife photographer, took these images at the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia with her Nikon D850 Camera and Nikon AF-S 180-400mm lens.
“Driving down the riverbank, we saw hundreds of bee-eaters emerging from the steep sandy banks as they headed out over the river to feed off insects,” she said.
“We stopped to take some pictures of this lovely scene, and suddenly, this lone baboon walked amongst the birds.
“It is unusual to see a baboon on their own as normally they would be part of a large troop, but there were no other baboons to be seen.
“I love to capture scenes with multiple species, especially two that you would not normally see together.”
