**VIDEO AVAILABLE. CONTACT INFO@COVERMG.COM TO RECEIVE.** Plant lovers in America can now own their very own glowing plants. Scientists have created plants that look like regular petunias by day but emit a magical glow like fireflies by night. The plants are the result of genetic modification, inspired by glowing mushrooms. They require no special care and are completely safe to grow. Light Bio, the company behind the unique plants, received approval from the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) to sell them. Each plant will cost $29 (£23.04), and you can order them online, with delivery set for April. The company plans to make even brighter plants in the future. Light Bio CEO Keith Wood, commented, “This milestone—and the magical experience we are bringing to people across the country—has been decades in the making.” He added, “I helped create the first glowing plant in 1986, which has inspired scientists worldwide.” Light Bio hopes this technology could be useful for more than just making pretty plants, maybe even helping with food security in the future. Petunias were chosen as the first plant because they’re easy to grow and produce lots of flowers. The new variety, named ‘Firefly Petunia’, resembles the glowing plants in the Avatar movie.
