This remarkable footage shows Italian emergency services staff rescuing a horse that had fallen into a canal in the Turin region on Monday night (27March2023).
The horse was hoisted in the air - looking briefly like Pegasus, the flying horse of Greek myths - before finding his way back on four legs thanks to help from his rescuers.
In a statement posted on social media, Italian emergency services officials wrote: “Dexterity, technique and knowledge of equipment and vehicles in the rescue service. Recovered by #vigilidelfuoco a horse that had fallen and remained blocked for a long time in the bed of the Ivrea canal, between Villareggia and Moncrivello. Yesterday evening the intervention of the teams of #Torino.”
