This aerial view shows the 180MW Duale Plant in Nouakchott, on March 21, 2023. - The plant is managed by Societe Mauritanienne d’Electricite (SOMELEC), Mauritania’s electric utility company. Duale is a 180MW dual fuelled power plant that it runs with diesel fuel and is gas ready. The gas is harvested offshore but its not yet operational. It has a production unit and a distribution grid. Mauritania wanted to achieve 20% of renewable energy in their energy mix by 2020 (they reached this goal in 2018 with 38% of renewable energy in their mix.)
