Belgium OUT
This photograph shows a close-up of the applicator developed by Idevax, a Belgian startup that developed a more efficient vaccine injection technique, in Antwerp, on September 23, 2022. - The Belgian start-up Idevax has developed a vaccination syringe that should make the administration of vaccines more efficient. The syringe facilitates the injection of the vaccine through the skin (intradermal) instead of the classic method through the muscle (intramuscular). And that in a user-friendly and almost painless way. The dose to be administered intradermally is five to ten times lower than that required for intramuscular vaccination. This is because the vaccine comes into direct contact with immune cells through the skin, while it still has to travel via a muscle to the lymph nodes, where the vaccine loses strength.
